Salute Exteriors
The Hardie-only shop for Edmond and Oklahoma City
Salute Exteriors is on this list because the reviews describe a Hardie-only shop, not a vinyl bid with fiber cement as an upgrade. Homeowners do not merely say the house looked better. They describe vinyl coming off a 36-year-old house, a two-story farmhouse, rattling panels, a rebuilt chimney, and crews whose names they still remember.
For Edmond and Oklahoma City homeowners, those details matter. They reveal how a contractor operates when the old siding hides missing substrate, not just how the finished Hardie looks in a photo.

A Hardie-only shop
Salute Exteriors is a Hardie shop for Edmond and Oklahoma City. The company states it is the OKC metro’s only James Hardie Elite Preferred Remodeler. James Hardie’s public contractor locator lists them as Preferred.
Owner Clifton Fulkerson is a retired Command Sergeant Major after more than 30 years in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He writes that he is on site during the job, that the crews stay on Hardie installation guidelines, and that they keep a clean job site. The company publishes a clear line: they do not install vinyl. They write that vinyl is not a fit for Oklahoma weather.
Homeowners should confirm current credentials, material availability, warranty coverage, and the written project scope directly with the company before contracting.
What the reviews show
The best contractor reviews give you something to evaluate: the house, the old skin, the new product, a person on the crew, and a result that held up. Salute’s file has those notes. Homeowners describe vinyl-to-Hardie swaps, a 1963 brick house with six gables, and an owner who came back after he was paid.
WOW! Just WOW! Our house is 36 years old and desperately needed new siding. Having done our research, we knew we wanted James Hardie Siding. After reading all the great reviews about Salute Exteriors and Cliff, I called. I was impressed that Cliff returned my call so quickly and once setting up a time to do an estimate was even more impressed as he was so easy to communicate with. He is such a delightful person, very personable and professional. To me, communication is key! He communicated throughout the whole process. The amazing part besides how wonderful it looks is how quickly the work began and was finished. The siding crew came even on days that were extremely cold. They were so professional, and the workmanship was incredible. I was very impressed that they didn’t block my car so I could get in and out of my garage, if needed. Most workers don’t think to do that. They were friendly and considerate. They never left a mess! Their work was just fabulous. Oh, and the painters!! What a great crew they were. Again, I was amazed at how quickly they got the job done and how professional they were. I was blown away when I walked out after the first day of painting and saw the transformation. I couldn’t believe how quickly it was completed. It looks so good!! They paid attention to even the tiniest detail!! They were great!! From the beginning to the end, it was EXCELLENT! Cliff is so easy to work and communicate with.
She already wanted Hardie. Cliff called back, the crew left the garage clear, and the painters finished the transformation. That is a view of the company’s process, not only a compliment.
Built for the problems behind the siding
Siding jobs often begin with appearance but become about protection. The difficult part is what sits behind the old material.
The owner of Salute Exteriors, Cliff Fulkerson, was excellent to work with. He knew the product and kept us well informed of progress or delays due to weather. His workers are top of the line. The product, James Hardie siding, is the absolute best. His crew fixed problems they found on this old house when they removed the old cheap siding. It was a professional repair, not covered up. Awesome job and extremely pleased with results. all material including paint is top of the line. Cliff stands behind his work. If you want the best, this is who you call, No doubt!
When the cheap siding came off, they repaired the wall instead of hanging over it.
We just had Salute Exteriors update the siding and trim on our house. We met Clifton at the January OKC home and garden show where we discussed some issues with our current siding. We replaced our siding around 11 years ago with a fiber cement-type material (but not James Hardie) with the expectation it would last many years. Unfortunately, the installation was not done correctly and overtime we had problems with the panels chipping and loosening. So much so we could hear panels rattle on really windy days. Clifton came out, inspected our siding and discussed some of the problems he saw with the original installation. He explained how James Hardie siding and trim should be installed. He also showed me a house he had completed recently so that I could see the differences for myself. As part of the installation, the crew rebuilt our chimney and added substrate in areas where it was missing (something else we found out after the old siding was removed and helped explain the loose panels).
Eleven-year-old fiber cement rattling in the wind. They rebuilt the chimney and put substrate back. For anyone comparing bids, that is a reminder to evaluate what is behind the boards, not just the color.
Named crews and a clean site
Homeowners want to know who will be on the wall, whether the yard will be livable, and whether the owner stays with the job.
I decided to have Salute Exteriors do my Hardie siding job after getting quotes from several other contractors. My house had all old vinyl siding. It is a large two story farm house style. Replacing vinyl with Hardie was obviously more costly but I decided it was worth it. I’m glad I did. Clifton was exceptional to work with. The installation crew was very skilled, professional and produced exceptional results. Enrique and his son Alex were the lead workers along with some other helpers. They were always available to answer questions and make minor changes I requested. At the end of every work day, they completely cleaned the work site leaving the place as they had found it (maybe better). The painters were equally skilled. Diego and his crew completed the painting (I was told over 30 gallons of the highest quality Sherwin Williams) in two days but spent the same amount of time carefully masking the entire house.
He names Enrique, Alex, Diego, the farmhouse, and the daily cleanup.
Salute Exteriors recently removed old vinyl siding and installed hardie siding on my residence. My experience with this company was outstanding in all regards. The owner/operator, Clifton Fulkerson, as well as his construction and painting crews were very professional and customer oriented in all aspects. They went out of their way to answer all of my questions and kept me informed throughout the process. The job was completed in a timely manner and my property was kept clean. Clift and his crews were friendly, hard working, and knowledgeable. The finished product was beautiful and exceeded my expectations. My home now attracts attention from my neighbors and all who pass through the neighborhood. I highly recommend Salute Exteriors and Clifton Fulkerson if you are in the market to renovate your property.
Detail after the last board
A Hardie wrap is not finished until the paint, the trim, and the small things match.
Salute Exteriors is definitely a 5 star company! Clif and his crews completed every task as promised. I am a single female, and I have had more than my share of contractors who have left after doing a shoddy job. Clif has checked with me several times, AFTER he was paid, to make sure the work was done to my satisfaction. The work crews were always on time, very polite, and did NOT leave a mess. They are true craftsmen! The attention to detail is amazing. I keep finding little things that were done especially well. When painting a utility wire, they painted to match exactly the color of the plank as well as the trim. They do not cut corners. Clif was on site each day to check on things. He is a perfectionist! If he saw something he was not pleased with, he had it done over. He and the crews fixed things that needed to be done without me noticing. I have had neighbors stop by to compliment my house, and ask for a referral. My home is the prettiest on the block. It looks like I have a brand new house. Salute Exteriors and James Hardie siding are the best!
Cliff came back after he was paid. They painted a utility wire to match the plank and the trim.
My wife and I met Clifton Fulkerson at the Home and Garden show at the OKC fairgrounds and asked him to provide an estimate to replace the wood shake with the JamesHardie siding. Clifton quickly made an appointment with us and brought over samples. We have a brick house but all the six gables were update from wood shake to concrete siding. It was a complete face lift and the 1963 house now appear vey modern. Both his installer crew and his paint crew were impressive!
A 1963 brick house. Six gables, wood shake to Hardie.
Salute Exteriors transformed our home with new siding! The entire team was wonderful from start to finish and helped make the process clear. They also went above and beyond to make sure the job was done right! Yesterday and today one of the earliest ice storms has struck Oklahoma, and we are so thankful to have solid siding keeping our home safe and warmer than ever!
The wrap met Oklahoma weather the next day.
Absolutely best contractor I’ve worked with. Cliff and his crew do amazing work. I saw people taking down Cliffs number while work was being done on my house and people stop and stare at my house now. It’s absolutely stunning.
The street voted while the crew was still on the wall.
Best fit for homeowners
Salute Exteriors is a particularly strong match for homeowners who:
- Want James Hardie only, and do not want a vinyl bid
- Live in Edmond, Oklahoma City, or a nearby metro town
- Need old vinyl or a failed fiber-cement hang taken off, with repairs underneath
- Have gables, a chimney, trim, or other detail-heavy areas
- Want the owner on site and a crew that cleans the yard every day
- Prefer a veteran-owned Hardie specialist listed as Preferred on James Hardie’s locator
Before you compare quotes
The cheapest siding number can be the thinnest scope. Ask every contractor to specify these items in writing:
- Removal and disposal of existing siding
- House wrap or weather-resistive barrier
- Flashing at windows, doors, chimneys, and exterior penetrations
- Sheathing or substrate repair when the old siding comes off
- James Hardie product line, trim, and paint scope
- Daily cleanup and final debris removal
- Who is on site, and who handles service calls after completion
Then compare the written scope, not just the final price.
The bottom line
Salute Exteriors is on this list because its reviews provide real evidence of a Hardie-first shop: vinyl off, repairs underneath, named crews, a clean site, and an owner who stays with the house after the last board.
The reviews are not simply enthusiastic. They are specific. When you are deciding who to trust with an Oklahoma City exterior, specifics are what make the difference.

James Hardie, Fiber cement.
How do I hire a siding company in Oklahoma?
Start with the 2026 city winner if they hang the material you want, then call that shop. Get wrap, flashing, and trim on the written estimate. Ask who is on site the week they start.
What should be on a written siding estimate?
Product line and color, square footage, tear-off or reside, housewrap, flashing, trim, soffit, paint or factory finish, dumpster, and start window. If wrap and flashing are missing, the cheap number is usually a thinner scope.
Do I need to replace siding or can I repair it?
Repair works when damage is local: a few cracked boards, one wall, chimney wrap, or trim rot. Full replacement makes sense when the wrap is failing, paint will not hold, water is behind the skin, or you are changing material.
How long does a siding job take?
A typical Tulsa house is days, not months, if weather holds. Homeowners on this issue describe whole-house wraps in a week and smaller chimney or gable jobs in a day or two. Ask about start date, crew size, and whether they tear off and hang in the same week.
